Supporting Fencing

Strength 4 Fencing supports fencers and coaches with evidence-informed physical preparation designed to improve performance, reduce injury risk, and support long-term athlete development from youth through to high performance. Support is tailored to the demands of fencing and adapted to the athlete’s stage of development, training environment, and competitive pathway.

Philosophy and Approach

Fencing often lacks structured, age-appropriate physical preparation, while fencers progress through the sport with very different physical backgrounds, training levels, and injury histories. Strength 4 Fencing supports athletes at each stage of development by providing clear structure, progression, and guidance that adapts to individual needs within the complexity of the sport.

The approach combines scientific evidence with extensive applied experience across youth development, club, and high-performance environments. Through both in-person and online Programs, Strength 4 Fencing also supports fencers with demanding schedules, frequent travel, or limited access to high-quality physical preparation, ensuring continuity and quality of training regardless of location.

Background and Experience

Luca Malvassori, Founder of Strength 4 Fencing, has worked across the full fencing pathway, including involvement with the Italian Olympic foil teams for both men and women in the lead up to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. His experience spans extensive club-level work and the delivery of training camps with clubs and national teams across multiple countries.
Throughout his career in strength and conditioning, Luca has been trusted by national coaches with their athletes and by parents with youth fencers during key development phases. This breadth of experience enables him to tailor physical preparation to diverse contexts, cultures, and performance levels while maintaining consistent standards of quality.
