Fencer Strength & Conditioning Program

Train purposefully for performance, resilience and competition readiness.

Who This Program Is For

This Program is designed for fencers who already have basic gym and lifting competency and want a structured, progressive physical training plan that complements fencing practice and improves strength, explosiveness and endurance.

Why It Matters

Fencing requires rapid lunges, frequent changes of direction and repeated high-intensity efforts, often sustained across long competition days. Without structured strength, power and conditioning work, physical capacity can plateau and fatigue-related injury risk increases, particularly in the lower limbs. This program addresses those demands through evidence-based physical preparation specific to the requirements of fencing.

What You Get

How It Works

Training is delivered remotely via the TrueCoach app and follows a structured progression over time. In the first month, the focus is on building solid foundations through strength, mobility, stability and technical execution.
Session Examples
During the second month, training intensity increases with a greater emphasis on power, speed and higher-intensity conditioning

From the third month onwards, training is continuously adjusted through planned variations in load, volume and exercise selection to support ongoing development and competition demands. You train three times per week , with sessions marked as Essential or Optional so you can prioritise when time is limited. program are updated regularly to ensure consistent progression and long-term physical development.

Equipment

Training is designed to be accessible and adaptable. Most sessions can be completed in a standard gym setting using free weights and basic conditioning equipment (treadmill, bike, rowing). Where access to full gym facilities is limited, suitable alternatives are provided to ensure training quality and progression are maintained.

Tracking Progress

Progress is tracked directly in the TrueCoach app by logging loads, repetitions, conditioning outputs and perceived effort. Selected physical tests are used over time to monitor improvements in strength, power and conditioning and to guide program progression.
